# Attribute AI Spend to Customers for True Unit Economics in Husk

> Husk Customer Profitability lets you attribute AI and infrastructure costs to customers. See per-customer margins and true unit economics in a single report.

Husk Customer Profitability connects your AI and infrastructure spend to the customers who generate it. When you know exactly how much OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and hosting costs are tied to each customer, you can calculate true margins and make smarter pricing and retention decisions. This page describes the workflow from tagging usage to reviewing the report.

## Tag usage for attribution

Before Husk can attribute AI costs to customers, you need to tag transactions or usage events with a customer identifier. You can do this during expense categorization or by importing usage data that already contains customer labels.

## Review the profitability report

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Customer Profitability">
    In Husk, go to **AI Spend Management** and select **Customer Profitability**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a time period">
    Pick a month or quarter to analyze. The report aggregates all tagged AI and infrastructure costs for that window.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Map costs to revenue">
    Husk matches your attributed spend against revenue data imported from Stripe, your accounting tool, or a CSV upload. If revenue data is missing for a customer, the report shows cost only.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review per-customer margin">
    The report lists each customer with attributed cost, matched revenue, and margin percentage. Sort by margin to find your most and least profitable accounts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export or share">
    Download the report as CSV or share a read-only link with your finance lead.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How to improve accuracy

* Use consistent customer IDs across your AI billing, Stripe, and Husk.
* Update revenue mappings monthly so the report stays current.
* Review untagged transactions regularly and assign customer labels to reduce unallocated spend.

<Note>
  Customer Profitability requires connected revenue or usage data. If you use Stripe, connect it under **Integrations** first. For other billing systems, upload a CSV with customer ID, amount, and date columns.
